Drink This!
Even though it is almost the end of October, the weather in Southern California has been exceptionally warm for this time of year. While many people across the country are enjoying cooler fall weather, last weekend we soaked up the warm California sun in 90 degrees, which called for some barbecuing. And also meant we would be in need of a good bottle of white wine to pair with our lemon chicken kabobs and Greek rice.
Most of the time we tend to talk about and post many of our favorite Chardonnay’s and Viognier’s, but not to often do we feature Sauvignon Blanc. Quite honestly, we have just never really been big fans of it. When we were looking for a white wine last weekend, we came across this 2012 Brander Santa Ynez Valley Sauvignon Blanc and thought we’d refresh our memories for old time sake. We have visited Brander before and really enjoyed their wines. We specifically remember liking their Sauvignon Blanc then and this one proved our memory correct. It’s crisp, refreshing, and was a nice compliment to our lemon chicken kabobs.
So with the unexpected warm weather, came a finding of an unexpectedly delightful Sauvignon Blanc that we almost forgot about. Besides the taste, we also like the fact that this wine is widely available and the price is just right.
Cheers!
