Drink This!

Since this Saturday, June 29, is the Grand Opening of their new tasting room and we just so happened to have this wine a couple days ago, it only made sense to feature Cargasacchi as our “Drink This” choice. Their new tasting room is located on Highway 246 just east of highway 101, right before you drive into Solvang, Ca.

If you’re a fan of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir like us, then the 2010 Cargasacchi Pinot Noir Cargasacchi-Jalama Vineyard is definitely for you! Beautiful deep red color…complex spice, leather, anise and herbal components…and a lush-in-the-mouth red fruit finish. What puts these Sta. Rita Hills Pinots over the top for us, is this essence of “ocean air” coming out of the glass. We are not wine professionals and we don’t really want to over analyze why we get this characteristic (maybe it’s the salts in the soil or maybe because it is grown by the damn ocean!), but it’s just something we look for in a Santa Barbara Pinot Noir and that we have always enjoyed.

Cargasacchi also sell their Pinot Noir grapes to notable small artisan producers such as Brewer-Clifton, Hitching Post, Ken Brown, Siduri, Loring, Dragonette, Bonaccorsi, Samsara and Babcock…just to name a few.

We are really looking forward to checking out the new tasting room and enjoying some delicious wines on our next trip to Santa Ynez Wine Country. See you soon Cargasacchi!

Their wines are widely available at wine stores here.
Our friend Jason picked this one up at The Wine House LA. Also available in half bottles.
