2011 Lucia Pisoni Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir – Winery Explorers

Drink This!

It’s November and we are nearing one of our favorite holidays, Thanksgiving Day. A day of food, family, friends and of course…wine, lots of good wine! It’s time to lock in what wine will be served before, during, and after that big turkey dinner. Have you planned for this yet? We have some little gems saved for this day, but here’s one we recently had that we’ll be cracking at this year’s Thanksgiving dinner table, the 2011 Lucia Pisoni Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. Mmm!

This Pinot Noir is made by the Pisoni Family at Lucia Vineyards from their well known Pisoni, Garys’ and Soberanes vineyards in Monterey County. If you know Santa Lucia Highlands’ wine reputation, you already know their Pinot’s tend to be on the big side, this one being another wonderful choice for the California Pinot lover who like them lush and delicious! For us, this one falls into the Roar, Sea Smoke and Foxen Pinot Noir category…some of our all time favorites.

Our key tasting notes:

knock out nose

full throttle

exciting

wild berry

fig

salty ocean

mineral

juniper

spice

red licorice

So, if you have or have not lined up some wine yet for Thanksgiving, it’s not too late. You might want to be on the lookout for this one, she’s a beauty!

Cheers!
