Drink This!

As you may know, we have been big fans of Foxen wines for a long time now. Some of our most memorable wine moments have happened while consuming Foxen wines.

This past Father’s Day, we decided to take a 3-day family trip to Palm Springs. Our destination was the Westin Desert Willow Villas, located in Palm Desert. This place always offers some great deals and has a fantastic pool area complete with water slides and lots of activities for the kids. Our getaway was to serve only one purpose…to relax!

Day one we decided to open the 2012 Foxen Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard to enjoy while we sat on our balcony and took in a gorgeous desert sunset. We had never heard of this vineyard before, so we were kind of excited. Oh man! This wine blew us away, even in its youth. The wine has a very different personality from the stereotypical Santa Rita Hills earth we are used to. Some of it is in there, the spice, dark berry, floral perfume, ocean air, etc…but in addition, there’s a different fruit character and earth profile that we found new and exciting. It’s also nice that the oak wasn’t overdone. This pinot is drinkable now, but we know it’s going to be even better in years to come.

Our mission was complete! The getaway was a success. Kids happy, check! Mom and Dad happy, check! And above all pure relaxation, check!

Cheers!
