One of our latest discoveries is the hidden gem, Demetria Estate. A must stop if your touring Santa Ynez Valley. What makes this place special is its location. Demetria is about 3 miles off Foxen Canyon Road and is appointment only so remember to call ahead before you head out. After buzzed through the gate, you will drive along a narrow road through rolling vineyards and breathtaking mountain views. Once you pass the second gate you will arrive at this unexpected paradise. A bright Tuscan yellow estate with lots of big olive trees and violet lavender. Once you walk into the tasting patio area, they tell you to “make your self at home.” Sit back, relax and enjoy the fresh air, wine, views and live music. They allow you to bring your own food and we definitely would recommend you doing this. Once you take a sit on their casual patio, you’ll find yourself sitting there for hours just taking it all in. A lot of times there is an acoustic guitar being played by a local musician that makes this winery even more enjoyable. On our last visit the music of Radiohead, Oasis, Tom Petty & Johnny Cash were being played…some of our favorites.
Now about the wine itself, we love it! Very reasonably priced and delicious. A top stand out for us is their 09 Syrah $30 and 08 Pantheon $20, a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Viognier. Give Demetria Estate a try, we know you’ll be passing it on to your friends too!
